My name is Beth, and I am trying to keep a promise to myself by living a fit life.

I’m so grateful that you’ve taken the time to check out my little corner of the universe. I suppose you want to know who I am and why I’m here. But most of all, what can I do to help you make your life better?

First, I can tell you what I’m not. I’m not a personal trainer (although I hope to be in the coming year). I’m not a nutritionist, a physical therapist, or a doctor.

What I am is a 46 year old woman who has made a promise to herself for the last two years to live a life that makes me fit. It came to me gradually- a desire to feel better, to look better (in the mirror), to know I’m healthier, and to learn to love living this way.

What made me decide to make these changes? I’m not sure I should tell you. You’ll laugh at me…you’ll think I’m shallow. Well, alright. I made a promise to myself because…

…I hated my arms. Yes, that was what made me want to change my thinking and my way of life. I hated my arms. Since I was 25 and had my second child, I have never liked to wear short sleeves. I thought my arms looked too jiggly, too flabby and unattractive. Yep. That was it. And on my 44th birthday, I promised myself that soon (I didn’t give a deadline) I would no longer hate my arms and I would be showing them off in short sleeves whenever I got the chance.

Do you have one thing you’d like to change about your body or your life? Not so you look good to other people, but so you feel good to be yourself?

I’ve built this site to find a community of people who want to keep it real about fitness. I’m not looking to have a six(or 4)-pack – although, if that happens in the course of things, I’ll take it! I’m not going to be taking a bunch of supplements or juicing like crazy or trying a bunch of diets. I’m not planning to be in any bikini muscle builder contests.

I’m hoping to meet the challenges that life throws in front of me and find ways to stay fit in the midst of all those speed bumps and road blocks. We’ll be honest here and encourage one another to find what it means to each of us to be “fit”. We’ll share experiences and encouragement and take it one day at a time.

If you want to be a part of a community where we lift each other up and share our successes and challenges, you are in the right place. I will do my best to post two or three times per week with insight, opinion, interesting information, and an opportunity to check in and see how we’re doing. For your part, please share freely and open up to the possibility that we can be better than we ever thought we could be. We’re all human here and we’re just trying to find our way.
